It’s (still) the thought that counts
Anyone for tennis?
If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’ll know that a florist’s year tends to revolve around certain key annual events: Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas, for example. But as a florist based in SW19, we’re one of only a handful to add Wimbledon fortnight to our line-up of special dates.
For a few weeks a year, as we head into the height of summer, the atmosphere of Wimbledon Village is transformed as the world famous All England LTA Championships get underway.
Whilst the locals either head off on holiday or hide away indoors to escape the furore, the Village fills up with its regular summer visitors. Players and their coaches are usually seen out and about in the early morning – and funnily enough there are always plenty of volunteers for setting out our pavement flower buckets as a result!
The area also tends to get a lot of media coverage so we’ll often see camera crews on the high street. Once play begins at midday things start to quieten down, and that’s when we tend to see our regular customers who venture out for essentials before the matches finish and the crowds return.
Our Wimbledon Collection celebrates all the things we love about our town and its tennis, with plenty of scented English blooms, rich purples and greens, and tennis-ball-like craspedia. Order online, over the phone or pop in to pick yours up in person.
P.S. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed for all the gossip from Wimbledon Village once the Championships begin.
