We’re back… sort of!
It’s (still) the thought that counts
Remember when you were little, and all your mum wanted for Mother’s Day was a hand-made card? It might have been nothing more than a scribbled heart on a bit of old cereal box, but I bet she kept it for years.
In a time when we should be connecting more and consuming less, that thought and time and attention is what will really set your Mother’s Day gift apart this year. Granted, you might not get away with the cereal box option – but there are ways to show her that she’s worth more than a few crisp tenners.
If you’re stuck for ideas, here are some handy hints from Gardenia’s florists about injecting some thought and personality into a traditional, flower-based Mother’s Day gift:
Buy loose flowers and arrange them yourself
Choose her favourite varieties and colours, pick a lovely container (junk shops and charity shops can be treasure troves of quirky and unique glassware and ceramics), and then create your own arrangement to take over on Sunday 22nd. Yes, it might be a bit loose and ‘natural’-looking – but that’s bang on trend and she’ll love the fact that you tried.
Get something that will last
Snaffle her favourite pot when she’s not looking, bring it into one of our shops and we’ll plant it up with pretty, scented spring bulbs. They’ll bloom over the coming weeks, bringing a much-needed pop of colour and freshness that will brighten up her days as we head into April and beyond.
Get the gift that keeps on giving
If one day just isn’t enough to make her feel like the queen that she is, a Bloomsbox subscription will treat her over and over again for as long as you choose. She’ll get a box of the freshest blooms hand-delivered to her door every week or month, and you’ll get a gazillion brownie points.
Still not sure? Throw money at this problem
We know that mums can be a fussy bunch. If you’re all too familiar with a raised eyebrow and air of disappointment, play it safe with Gardenia store credit and let her sniff the roses to her heart’s content. It’s not a cop-out and you’re still thinking about her, so give yourself a break and maybe enjoy a little shopping trip together.
We’ll be open from 7am on Mother’s Day (that’s Sunday 22nd March!) and our shops will be packed to the rafters with spring favourites so there’s no excuse for showing up empty handed. And if you can’t be with her in person, order now for local and national delivery.
Love, Jamie x
